Major Spotlight: Villanova University Real Estate
Villanova University's Real Estate major, housed within the Villanova School of Business, offers students a business-focused education in one of the most dynamic areas of the global economy. The program goes far beyond simply learning about buying and selling property, combining real estate investment, development, financial modeling, capital markets, accounting, economics, and law. With hands-on projects, industry-standard technology, site visits, case competitions, and access to an extensive professional network through the Daniel M. DiLella Center for Real Estate, students gain the opportunity to connect classroom learning directly to the commercial real estate industry.
Major Highlights & Student Opportunities
A Dedicated Real Estate Program: Villanova offers an undergraduate Real Estate major and minor through the Villanova School of Business, giving students the opportunity to make real estate a central part of their business education.
Real-World Projects: Students don't just study hypothetical examples. Course projects can include valuing actual retail centers and office buildings, while the curriculum culminates in a development project involving site selection, market analysis, project completion, and resale.
The DiLella Mulroy Fund: One of the program's most distinctive opportunities is the student-managed real estate investment fund. Villanova was the first university to offer undergraduate students the opportunity to manage a real estate investment fund, allowing selected students to research, evaluate, underwrite, and invest in live commercial real estate deals using real capital.
Industry Connections: Through Daniel M. DiLella Center for Real Estate, students interact with alumni and industry professionals through guest speakers, networking events, site visits, case competitions, and other professional development opportunities.
Academic Focus & Specializations
Villanova's Real Estate curriculum gives students a broad understanding of the business while allowing them to explore different sides of the industry:

Financial Modeling & Analysis: Develop quantitative skills used to evaluate properties and investment opportunities, including the use of industry-standard tools and technology.
Capital Markets, Accounting & Law: Students gain exposure to the financial, legal, and economic factors that influence real estate transactions and development.
Technology & Data: Real estate students have access to the Gmelich Lab's geographic information system resources for mapping, data, and spatial analysis—bringing technology and analytics into the study of real estate.
Experiential Learning & Industry Exposure
The DiLella Center for Real Estate: The Center serves as a hub for academic and professional development, incorporating site visits, case competitions, experiential learning, industry-standard tools, and perspectives from industry experts.
Real Estate Society: With more than 100 active members each academic year, Villanova's Real Estate Society provides students with opportunities for professional development, alumni connections, guest speakers, and career preparation.
Real Estate Development Competitions: Students can participate in national case competitions where teams analyze development projects and present their recommendations to panels of industry professionals.
